This morning on the news I saw a brief report about some recall of some girl-sized AG jewelry. The recall was due to the discovery of lead in the jewelry, at levels that were deemed to be unsafe. Does anyone know more about this?

I called AG about this. It is just the 4 items pictured that are being recalled, however, she said that any AG jewelry purchased at the retail stores can be returned for a refund. She said that this was discovered during a random safety check. It does not involve any jewelry sold on the website or catalogue.

Last week I posted a story about a 4 year old that died after swallowing a Reebock charm. I wonder if this recall has anything to do with that recall. I will try to bring the earlier post back up to the front page.

I have seen at least one other story (besides these two) in the news about lead in children's jewelry, in the past few days. My guess is that everyone who makes jewelry for children is on the alert now, and testing their products.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ugh, I just called and they told me it was all jewelry purchased at the store--not just those 4 pieces. DD has the bracelet (the one shown) and necklace that matches the Jess outfit for girls and I was hoping that even though the bracelet was pictured, the necklace would still be OK. I think I'll send both of them back to be safe.

Interesting that customer service would tell you a different story. Yes, I would be on the safe side and return it all.

Keeping in mind, it's dangerous jewelry if they eat it.
